Lowell Parents As Teachers Program
BACKGROUND:
In 2007 staff from the independent Hanover PAT program initiated discussions with the Tri-Creek School Corporation about starting a PAT program in Lowell. PAT of Lake County attended those early discussions, and later that year the Tri-Creek School Corporation allocated Title I funds to implement a Parents as Teachers program for families in Lowell. The School Corporation asked that Parents as Teachers of Lake County oversee the program. In 2008 Parents as Teachers of Lake County hired a Parent Educator to serve 20 families that live in the Tri-Creek School Corporation district. In addition to monthly home visits, Parents as Teachers of Lowell offers a group meeting each month. Families in Lowell are also welcome to participate in any of the group meetings offered through the Crown Point PAT site.CONTACT:
