Hanover Township (Cedar Lake) Parents As Teachers Program

BACKGROUND:

Since 1957, Hanover Community Schools has been serving the educational needs of our elementary school children. Each year at Kindergarten Round-Up and upon completion of the Title 1 Assessment, test scores regarding readiness for school learning indicate there are more children in need.

Vickie Rainwater, Rhonda Brogdon, Teri Archer, Amanda Verduin and Tracey Lakomek are the 5 trained Parent Educators currently running the Parents as Teachers program for Hanover Township residents in Cedar Lake and St. John.

In addition to monthly home visits, we offer several FREE group meetings each school semester:

  • 2-year old "Bunnies In-and-Out, Colors All About"
  • 3 & 4-year old "Learn & Explore"
  • 4 & 5-year old Pre-K "Fun, Literacy & Cooperative Play"
  • All ages Playgroups
  • Parent seminars on topics such as nutrition and discipline
  • Children's seminars such as Stranger Danger
